NewYear 2007

Happy newyear cgtalkers
This image started out as a much lower rez New year splashscreen, but I felt it would be fun to make a larger render of it.
Young sprout and old tree + lighting are the "newyear" ideas I put in the image. The toadstools are a christmass reference, and some details are there to enhance the theme.
There actually is a buddha carved into the root of the tree, though it doesn't look much like this one.
ps sorry about the 2006 in the file name.. accident!

The Tube

A "just for fun" still I did recently. I've been doing animated things for a while and wanted to make just one image. Of course, now I have a desire to make a short animation based on this . There's not much to say about the subject- I always wanted to a render in a subway/ metro/ tube/ underground station with someone perfectly alone, just waiting for a train in isolation. The whole thing is modelled in blender, mostly very basic mesh/subsurf modelling. I used bevelled curves for a lot of the detail, a mix of photographic, painted and procedural textures, and a bit of displacement for some of the niggling details I couldn't be bothered to model. I didn't work on it full time and left it alone for a while, so I don't know how long it took.
The animation -if I can pull it off- is going to be a bit different.
I hope you all like it, I'd appreciate any comments or crits you have.
PS additional software used: inkscape (vector graphics) and gimp (image editor) for textures and a bit of post-pro

Chicken Chair's First Test

Hi everybody, this is a short animation test of a creature that is robotic chair with some of the traits and personality of a chicken. Someday, in the far future, it will be an insignificant prop in a larger animation. Till then, it is the star of its own short anim:
(800x600 Divx, ~18 Megs
(400x300 Divx, ~7 Megs
(200x150 Divx, ~2 Megs
The animation is encoded in Mpeg4 avi (divx) with mp3 encoded sound, at 30fps. All comments, questions and critics will be appreciated. (except those about my spelling )
